This reminded me of when I first moved to California from Minnesota in 1979. I didn't miss fall so much because we do have a bonafide autumn season in Northern CA, although certainly not on a par with the upper Midwest, unless you head for the mountains, but I did miss snow the first few winters - dreary rainy days, sometimes for weeks on end, just didn't cut it. I long ago adjusted, however, since I live in a place where I can enjoy it all - only 3 to 4 hours to the mountains and snow! Enjoy your trip - hope the trees put on a great show!

Was this ever timely! I've since in Florida since 1972 (originally from Vermont), and I "miss" autumn every year. Yesterday, I put up my Welcome Autumn flag outdoors, and pulled out some autumn decorations for inside the house. Last week, bought pie pumpkins at the grocery. And for the past four weeks, we have been having an apple pie taste test. Each week I buy a different variety of the new apples and make a pie. We will choose our favorite, and I don't think it's a coincidence that so far, our favorite variety has been "Jazz" apples!!

Today, the cooler temps and drier air feel delicious. We even slept better last night. Have fun on your trip!
