The giant, almost 7-foot spider web encountered in very early January seems the perfect place to start this overdue post. Initially the web was almost invisible, as so much of happenings in our lives are. And when we stop to study the web, we see so many almost perfect paths emanating from and going back to the center core… ours and, in this case, the spider itself!
Nonchalantly walking in my neighborhood in the dark of the night, I suddenly caught myself just before I walked into web. It extended from a mailbox on the curb to a somewhat high branch on a tree beyond the sidewalk a few feet into a lawn.

As part of Living AND Treasuring Your Life Now, I invite you to always pay attention to what lights you up. When you have an “aha” about an experience make note to remember it.
As you read this issue, use it as an opportunity ask yourself, “What in my life DOES light me up?” If the question and introspection is somewhat foreign to you, write down your observations so you can refer to them whenever you feel the need for reenergizing.
For the first several years Picture to Ponder, Treasure Your Life Now’s predecessor, was sparked by the almost constant use of my camera. I had conditioned myself to taking pictures of whatever it was that caught [click to continue…]

Before going into photos and ponderings, I want to mention the Oprah & Deepak 21-Day Meditation Challenge, Miraculous Relationships. Given we are about Treasuring our Lives I think you might want to check it out if you have not already been aware of this program. Today is Day 7. Recording and Messages are available for free for five days from the time they are posted, so there is still time to register and experience most of the series at no charge.
The welcome statement states, “We are honored you are joining us on this journey to the heart of true love. You will discover the wonder that exists within and then watch all of your relationships unfold effortlessly, easily and miraculously.” [click to continue…]

I was shocked to see that it’s been over a month since I last published an issue of Treasure Your Life Now. Thoughts and ideas have been periodically surfacing and floating in and out:
“Messages, which one shall I deliver? which photo? what words? I have other pressing things to do.” I can go on and on and I’m sure you could add more from your lives, too.
Then this morning I woke up thinking, “Less is more. Simply put out an issue with a photo or two. Don’t worry about ‘Queries’ and ‘Tips’ Make it quick. Let it be easy.” [click to continue…]

This weekend I went searching through files for an earlier issue of Picture to Ponder/Treasure Your Life Now that featured food photographs. I had an article due for my SEEing Beyond column in my community newsletter.
When queried about a theme they’d like, one of the editors said she always enjoys when the articles evolve from photos of food. I found an issue from July 6, 2011 – Declaration: Celebration, Love and Laughter that featured the photos I’m using today, plus one of a quarter piece of cantaloupe.
Since I shifted the context for this issue, a new version and interpretations, it will be necessary to click on the latter link if you wish to see the cantaloupe and are curious as to what I wrote then.
Please continue reading after the photos, for my sharing on a couple of other important things I am up to.

I would suspect you might be challenged guessing what the above photo is. If you’ve never kept the cut top of a juiced lemon, you might not guess at all. [click to continue…]

I’m somewhat at a loss for words today with the undercurrent of the senseless, awful tragedy in Newton, Connecticut yesterday.
(Should you live in a distant section of the world and not be aware of it – a shooter forced his way into a school, Kindergarten through 4th grade, and murdered 20 children and 6 adults.)
My subconscious thoughts, I suppose, are what has resulted in this strange mixture of photos that requested being shared here today.

This issue of Treasure Your Life Now is dedicated to my beloved husband Sam Finkelstein, who died 5 years ago today on this eve before Thanksgiving Day (in the U.S.) Sam, a great photographer, was the epitome of love, generosity and gentle, quiet humor.
If you’d like to experience a bit of him and bring a smile to your face, visit two fun photo stories he put together of our sons when they were toddlers. For 22 month old Joe’s story, click on Romantic Joe’s Story It has 11 photos with one-line captions under them. This issue of Treasure Your Life Now brings with it prayers (however they are said), plus love and wishes for peace for people in stress all over the world. This, of course, extends to everyone including all of you who are stress free.
Closer to home, for me, this is going out to all who are suffering in the areas of damage and devastation in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and other coastal and New England states as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Because the areas geographically and familially are close to my roots, I’m finding particularly challenging putting together this issue of Treasure Your Life Now.
Always wanting to “help”, I’m left wordless in the light of what’s happened, been happening. Before the storm hit on Sunday, I was at a Saturday wedding. The ceremony was on the beach in Ocean City, NJ, just south of Atlantic City. During the whole afternoon and evening we experienced one of the most outwardly joyous and loving wedding celebrations I’ve been to. The next day, after family and friends had departed, came the storm. [click to continue…]
