I want to acknowledge and thank all the subscribers who have been faithfully opening/reading and, perhaps, pondering Picture to Ponder/Treasure Your Life now for these past nine years!! In addition, of course, thanks to all who have joined us during this time.

Sharing with you over the years, having you with me through my highs and my lows, as I worked my way through them, has made a huge difference in my life. [click to continue…]

shades and shadows over two windows

In life I’m sure you’ve probably experienced that there are always at least two sides or more to every story we tell ourselve. In the process, if open to it, we also become aware of the often varied shades of shadows and light within the experience. [click to continue…]

As you read and ponder the photos in this week’s post, I invite you to keep “play” in the forefront of your “listening.”

Two years ago, in the first sharing of these photos and experience, I wrote:
“For many, holidays present challenging times, especially when loved ones are absent or gone. From what I’ve experienced myself, and seen in others, we’ll often spend time a good amount of time dwelling on what’s missing and the sadness and loneliness of that.

What I’ve discovered is that ultimately staying in that state certainly does not make me feel any better. To make a conscious shift, I may start listing mentally, or on paper, that for which I am grateful. I will sometimes go further and directly express gratitude to another person if it fits and is feasible.”

I posted the following “Metaphor for Aging, As Seen in a Turnip” in a blog post over three years go. The experience of it resulted in an exercise used in subsequent sessions of the Through and From The Lens course. Participants interact visually and viscerally with their cameras and self-selected fruits or vegetables.

It started with the turnip below after it caught my eye in the supermarket. I bought it as my example for a class the following week.

I am in one of those states of query and mixed emotions. I would expect that you also experience such states at one time or another.

On the one hand I am thrilled and excited. On Tuesday evening, September 11th I will be doing an open phone interview with Jerry Downs, professional photographer, writer and much more. Many of you, I know, already appreciate his awesome photos, his humor, poignant messages and views of the world. I feel privileged on behalf of us all that he accepted my request for an interview. (See BELOW the Queries and Tips for a link to register for the free call AND for the download gift of his book THE PRESENT.) [click to continue…]

As I was reviewing prior Picture to Ponder publications when preparing for today’s issue of Treasure Your Life Now, the following photos popped out. They “asked” to be shared with you.

Before saying anything more, I’ll allow them to wordlessly speak to you. Simply be with the images for a for a moment or two.

Announcing the re-launching of the Through and From The Lens telecourse: Using Your Camera to See in New and Expanded Ways. Please check out the information after today’s queries and tips.

It’s been a very busy two weeks. More than likely it’s been the same for you. Found in one of last year’s issues of Picture to Ponder, today’s photos are about relaxing. Taking the latter path, I am merely revising and republishing the content. I came across the issue prior to a “Questions on Getting Unstuck” Complimentary Session (see below) with one of our long-time subscribers. When I get a request I usually check to see if the person is a subscriber and if he/she has written any comments in the past

The latter woman, in fact, had. The Lisianthus flowers below are among those she had noted. When I went to the issue, I immediately stopped to “bathe” myself in the simplicity and beauty of the flowers.

I noted that then I had invited you, as I do now, to take some time to simply breathe in the beauty of the images below.

Is your already “knowing the answers”, at least thinking you do, getting in the way of taking action?

Conversely, is the “need to know the answers to certain questions” stopping you from moving forward?

Today’s Photos and Story –

The above pink tulip bud was first featured in Picture to Ponder more than seven years ago. How timeless and fresh it looks here today.

Yet it’s an image that could have been totally overlooked. It was in the midst of a plant I had purchased and put in the trunk of my car. When I opened the trunk this bud caught my eye and I went for the camera before the flower had a chance to open.
